What does a charity Trustee do?

Trusteeship is one of the most important roles in the voluntary sector. Ponthafren Trustees give direction to the Association and are ultimately responsible for its activities.

As a Ponthafren Association Trustee you will:

• Ensure Ponthafren Association is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
• Comply with Ponthafren Association’s governing document and the law
• Act in Ponthafren Association’s best interest
• Manage Ponthafren Association’s resources responsibly
• Act with reasonable care and skill
• Ensure Ponthafren Association is accountable

What kind of people become Trustees?

Our trustees, just like all of our volunteers, come from a variety of backgrounds and bring all of their own life and work experiences and skills to a very important role.

This can include some specific skills and knowledge, such as business or personnel management, finance and fundraising, IT and communication skills and experience that will support the Associations success.

How much time does being a Ponthafren Trustee take?

Being a charity Trustee is an important role which requires time and commitment. Our Board of Trustee meetings take place in the evenings 6pm -9pm, 12 times a year.

Trustees have an induction and are also invited to training courses and events.

What will I get out of being a Trustee?

People volunteer to be a Trustee with charities such as Ponthafren Association because they want to help make a difference to the lives of some of our most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. What you will get back is the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped to make a real difference within your community.

Being a charity trustee can enhance your skills and knowledge, build confidence and provide many opportunities for personal growth and development.

As a Ponthafren Trustee you will be able to:

• Be able to put your skills and experience to use and make a lasting difference in your community
• Learn about the management and strategy side of charities by taking on a leadership role
• With generally 12 compulsory annual meetings, it’s the perfect volunteering opportunity for busy people
• Work with new and interesting people from diverse background
• The experience will enhance your CV and may open doors to new career paths
