Trustee role description

Ponthafren is a Registered Charity operating two centres in Powys. One in Newtown and one in Welshpool and an outreach in Llanidloes. Ponthafren’s aim is to provide a caring community, offering support to those in need and to promote positive mental health and well-being for all. Ponthafren provides a wrap around service that promotes positive mental health and implements the five ways to well-being. 

The statutory duties of a trustee

  1. Ensure that Ponthafren is carrying out the purposes for which it is set up, and no other purpose.
  2. Make sure that Ponthafren complies with its governing document, with charity law requirements and other laws that apply to Ponthafren.
  3. Act in Ponthafren’s best interests.
  4. Manage Ponthafren’s resources reasonably, responsibly and honestly.
  5. Act with reasonable care and skill.
  6. Ensure Ponthafren is accountable and complies with statutory accounting and reporting requirements.

Time commitment 

The Board meets approximately once per month, currently this is done electronically. Contact by email and telephone are also used as necessary.
