Want to feel happier, positive and get more from life? We can all improve our well-being by following these five steps!

Connect

Catch up with your family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. Just spend some time with the people that mean a lot to you. You could even try to develop new relationships.

You could take time out to talk to someone instead of sending an email, or introduce yourself to someone new. You could spend more time with your family or reconnect with an old friend.

Building these connections will support and enrich you every day.

Be Active

Regular physical exercise has many benefits for health and well-being.

You could ride a bike to work, go for a walk at lunchtime or use the stairs instead of the lift. You could even use being active as reason to stay connected by exercising with friends.

Take Notice

Taking notice of the world around you is sometimes called ‘mindfulness’ or ‘being in the moment'.

You could make time to sit quietly and focus on your surroundings or make a note of things you think are beautiful. You could try to notice the gradual changes as the seasons change.

Be aware of the world around you and what you are feeling. Reflect on your experiences to appreciate what matters to you.

Keep Learning

Lifelong learning is important. You could take up a hobby our rediscover an old one. Sign up for a college course or learn to play that instrument you’ve always wanted to. You could watch a documentary a day or join a quiz team.

Learning new things can make you more confident, improve conversation skills and keep your mind active.

Give

We all know that giving a gift can feel good, but you can give in many different ways. You could do something nice for a friend, or even a stranger. You could help a family member or Volunteer your time. You could donate food to a foodbank or volunteer for a charity.

Your self and your happiness are linked to your community. By giving to your community you can improve your own well-being.
