Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to you, helping you discover ways to deal with emotional issues.

We offer a free counselling service for anyone over the age of 18.

Ponthafren has 10 counsellors in our team over the Newtown and Welshpool sites. We have male and female counsellors in the team. The counsellors offer day time and evening appointments.

These approaches include:
Person Centred; Sand Tray; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); Relationship Counselling.

Counselling can help you uncover issues that may be affecting your daily life. It can and has helped many people who are struggling with their mental health, going through a difficult time in their life, a traumatic life event, helping you understand emotions or helping you discover who you are.

Our large team includes qualified and trainee counsellors over both sites. Trainee counsellors have to complete 100 hours of face to face appointments before becoming qualified. Ponthafren is proud to offer this opportunity to trainee counsellors, and it expands our capacity to offer a wide service meeting the need of the people of North Powys.
