About What We Do Counselling Service Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to you, helping you discover ways to deal with emotional issues. We offer a free counselling service for anyone over the age of 16. Our free counselling service is able to operate thanks to donations and grant funding. Counselling can help you uncover issues that may be affecting your daily life. It can and has helped many people who are struggling with their mental health, going through a difficult time in their life, a traumatic life event, helping you understand emotions or helping you discover who you are. The counsellors available through Ponthafren are primarily qualified in the Person Centred approach: some counsellors will have a range of other qualifications and models they can draw on so if you are interested in a specific style, please include this in your referral or get in touch by calling us on 01686 621 586 / 01938 552 770 or email [email protected] Ponthafren has counsellors available in both our Newtown and Welshpool sites and remotely. We have male and female counsellors in the team. The counsellors offer day time and evening appointments. Waiting times will vary depending on your flexibility. Make a referral to Ponthafren using our secure form Our counsellors include qualified and trainee counsellors over both sites. Trainee counsellors have to complete 100 hours of appointments before becoming qualified. Ponthafren is proud to offer this opportunity to trainee counsellors, and it allows us to increase our service in Powys. If you are not comfortable seeing a student you can request a qualified counsellor but this may impact your waiting time. < home Manage Cookie Preferences
